THANK YOU for donating.....

I would like to take the opportunity to say thanks to those that have been generous in donating to the school and the library in particular. Recently these donations to the library have been in time covering books, time organising book club, and books themselves .

Time: Book covering

I have been overwhelmed in the last couple of weeks by the number of people who have answered my call for help in covering books. Some of these books are group sets that are used in the classrooms, others are books for everyone to borrow. THANK YOU The help is much appreciated :)

I also want to take the time to acknowledge the invaluable service of one of our grandmothers, Laurel,  in covering books for the library. For  many years now she has been wonderful in coming regularly to ensure our books are covered and ready to be borrowed by our students. This will be her last year as her grandson goes off to high school next year! THANK YOU very much Laurel!

If you would like to help the library out from time to time with covering books just drop in and see me or let the office know how I con contact you. To make things easier for all involved, I put  10 - 20 books into a small box [depending on how many you have time for] and provide the contact. Books can be covered here in the library, or at home, whichever suits you best.

We will have some new books to cover when the next book club order arrives - free as a result of the orders parents have placed :), and we have just recieved a donation of quite a few Goosebumps books from a parent, so there are books ready to cover now!

Time: Organising Book Club

Book club is another area that has really benefited from parents donating their time. It would be very difficult to run book club by myself and so it probably wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the effort of one of our mums, Peta, and her helpers. Book club has great advantages, it gets books into students' hands at home and at the same time gets free books for the library! THANK YOU Peta and the book club helpers!

Books:

I was delighted at the beginning of term when a student brought in new copies of Inkspell and Inkdeath to donate to the library. While we had the first book in the series, he realised we didn't have the next 2 books, so he talked to his mum and now they are on the shelf to borrow - THANK YOU Marcel!

We have also had a few people donate second hand books. We are happy to take second hand books that are in good condition and appropriate for our students. The books need to meet our students' interests and if they are non-fiction be up to date and/or relevant. Any books we choose not to add to our collection will be either be donated to a local charity shop or, if the opportunity arises, sold at a second hand book stall. THANK YOU  for your donations :)

Did you know you can also make a tax deductible donation to the school library frund?

In the past, the school has received donations of money to the school library fund.  It was from such money that we have been able to purchase new books and make some changes to our shelving, which has made our books more accessible and our space far more inviting and useful! Talk to the office if you would like to make a donation. These donations are tax deductible, so they reduce your taxable income and benefit the school! THANK YOU to our past benefactors, who wish to remain anonymous, your donation was well used!

Whether it be time, books or money  - feel free to donate today!
