Holidays, the Premier's Reading Challenge and Good Books

It is nice to be on holidays and have the time to do some of those jobs that I just don't have time for during term. I have already enjoyed a few days away and hope you get to enjoy a break with your kids too.  Don't forget to make time to read a book or two - this is a great opportunity to read some more for the Premier's Reading Challenge [PRC]!

Remember if it is your book or from another library, you can find the PRC number for the books at the Premier's Reading Challenge site. The quickest way to find it is by typing the title into the search field in the top left hand corner:

If the book is not a PRC book it can be added as a free choice book and the students are allowed up to 5 free choice books.

Of course, if you are looking for some new ideas, go to the booklists and have a browse. They are organised alphabetically under both the author and the title. They are also organised by category for year 3 and up -  so see what you can find! Don't forget Marrickville library also has a good range of books, and like all libraries, they love to lend their books : )

While thinking about books, take a look at this year's Children's Book Council of Australia [CBCA] short list for the awards to be handed out later this year. We have a number of the early childhood  and picture book titles and will work towards purchasing more from the different categories. Look out for a display of some of these books in the library early next term.
